

Utility Analytics Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION
We’re seeking a motivated and curious Entry-Level Utility Analytics Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain advanced analytics solutions that support electric utility operations, planning, and decision-making. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for data, a solid technical foundation in data science and engineering, and a keen interest in the electric utility industry.
JOB SUMMARY
- Develop, maintain, and optimize utility analytics solutions using Python and SQL
- Analyze electric utility data (e.g., sensor, outage, SCADA, asset, and customer data) to generate insights and support operational and strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with data scientists, application engineers, and analytics software developers to build scalable tools and dashboards
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation as part of a collaborative solution development process
- Continuously learn about emerging tools, technologies, and best practices in utility analytics
- Contribute creative ideas to solve complex utility challenges using data-driven approaches
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Familiarity with basic software development and analytics processes (model development, version control, testing, debugging, etc.)
- Exposure to or experience with electric utility systems and data (e.g., grid operations, planning, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and grow
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
What Will Put You Ahead?
- Internship or coursework related to electric utilities, power & energy systems, or utility analytics
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., streamlit or Plotly Dash)
- Familiarity with service-oriented and scalable computing platforms and technologies
