JOB DESCRIPTION
Sentient Energy is looking for an Associate Product Manager to join our team! In this role, you will play a key part in the hardware product development lifecycle, working closely with our engineering, design, and other teams. You will focus on our hardware product lines, which include line sensing and voltage control devices that help utilities reduce outages, improve power quality, and reduce energy consumption.
JOB SUMMARY
- Contribute to the vision and roadmap for Sentient Energy’s industry-leading overhead and underground line sensors, and voltage control devices
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify market trends and customer needs for assigned products
- Interview customers to document their problems and unmet needs, define the impact on their business, and prioritize solutions
- Collaborate with engineering teams and customers to test, adjust, and finalize the scope and design of new products
- Support product launches and the internal product development stage-gate process, including creating documentation and training materials
- Support customer installation and validation of new products and features
- Support marketing and customer-facing events as a subject matter expert on assigned products’ current and future functionality
- Travel up to 20% to internal company locations and customer sites as needed
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- 2-4 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or Power Systems Engineer
- Familiarity with electrical engineering principles, with an emphasis on power systems and knowledge of wireless communication basics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- Self-starter with a results-oriented mindset
What Will Put You Ahead?
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis on power systems
- A strong ability to take ownership of tasks, including working backwards from customer problems to support the definition of new products and features
- A passion for creation, while working closely with customers and internal engineering teams to build new things
- Relevant experience with electric utility distribution engineering and operations (either as a utility employee, vendor, or consultant)
