JOB DESCRIPTION

Sentient Energy is looking to fill the Technical Solution Engineer which is a full‐time position in the Revenue Team organization. The Technical Solution Engineer (TSE) supports the International Revenue Team responsible for achieving sales, revenue and gross margin targets that align with those of the Sentient Energy’s international business vision and objectives.

JOB SUMMARY

The selected candidate will work closely to assist Business Director, Value Added Resellers and Partners along with utility customers to grow and promote the adoption of Sentient Energy solutions. The Technical Solution Engineer (TSE) is responsible for Value-Added Solution selling and will focus on expanding the company’s business with current and emerging technologies that support Utilities’ Grid Modernization initiatives. Specific functions include:

  • Assist Business Director, Value Added Resellers and Partners with pre-sales activities, as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Identify the technical needs of our targeted customers, support discovery calls and develop solution recommendations aligned with customer objectives and Grid Modernization initiatives
  • Coordinate with Value Added Resellers and Partners to support customer needs for proposals / presentations and participate in bid meetings and walk-through meetings with the customer as necessary
  • Coordinate with Account Directors, Value Added Resellers and Partners to support customer relationship building and establish a trusted advisor model for customer success
  • Lead technical solution design and architecture discussions with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, developing scalable and integrated solutions that address Customers’ operational, reliability, resiliency, and sustainability objectives
  • Lead the technical development of customer proposals, RFIs, RFQs, and RFP responses, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, technical specifications, and Sentient Energy’s value proposition.
  • Strategically position Sentient Energy’s value proposition with ROI-based models that support Customer Use Cases for Grid Modernization objectives
  • Strong interface with the marketing / commercialization / product organization to develop high-value solutions and assist with creating specific new product introduction (NPI) requirements which leverages / expands Sentient Energy’s solution portfolio
  • Work with Product Management to provide inputs on technical requirements based on customer conversations
  • Coordinate and Prioritize opportunities with Account Directors, Value Added Resellers and Partners to consistently meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Work with Account Directors, Value Added Resellers and Partners to help coordinate pre-sales considerations and architecture solutions which support Customer business objectives.
  • Establish a trusted advisor relationship with Partners and Customer (s) to drive product solution adoption and continued value of products and services
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships, customer experience of operational excellence, NPS and quarterly business reviews

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science or work experience equivalent in technical field, computer science, program management or a closely related field or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in English is mandatory and Spanish is a big plus
  • High sense of urgency and “hunting” mentality
  • Energetic, curious, resourceful, highly creative and self‐motivated.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to work effectively within a matrix organization and be a trusted advisor to utility customers
  • Excellent autonomous problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to continuously exhibit the highest levels of professional discretion as a representative of Sentient Energy in all customer relationships.
  • Direct experience supporting sales activities and account management including customer communications.
  • Proven understanding of all engineering discipline requirements for power systems in general.

What Will Put You Ahead?

  • 2 to 5 years with Electric Distribution Utilities is highly preferable in a technical sales capability
  • Technical understanding of overall electric operations systems, including electric power systems, distribution automation, and distributed control systems and communications
  • Proven ability to drive continuous value of the product/solution suite
  • Demonstrable experience success metrics and use case management for utility value proposition
  • Demonstrable experience with stakeholder/relationship management across multiple parties and departments within and outside of the company
  • Deep familiarity with project management tools and software including Microsoft Project and/or similar packages
  • Experience developing technical proposals, Statements of Work (SOW), RFIs, RFQs, and RFP responses, including translating customer requirements into comprehensive and compliant technical solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to develop, review, and validate technical documentation, solution architectures, proposals, and customer requirements for accuracy and completeness
  • Effective communications skills ‐ speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
  • Innovation and creativity of value-added solutions meeting customer business needs
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, customer engagements, and proposal activities while maintaining a high level of quality and responsiveness
  • A passion for alternative energy solutions and the application of advanced technologies for a better future
