JOB DESCRIPTION

Sentient Energy is looking for a full-time Sales Associate to join our team. This is a remote opportunity based in the United States and reporting to the Senior Vice President, Global Sales. The Sales Associate will focus on new-logo prospecting and early-stage business development across North American electric utility accounts. This role is ideal for a motivated, developing sales professional who is eager to build pipeline, identify new opportunities, and help expand Sentient Energy’s presence in the Smart Grid marketplace. The Associate will support outreach to prospective utility customers, qualify opportunities, coordinate discovery conversations, and partner with senior sales, Technical Sales, Business Development, Product Management, Engineering, and Advanced Technology teams to advance customer engagement and position Sentient Energy solutions around utility reliability goals.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Use a proactive “sales hunter” mindset to identify, pursue, and develop new-logo opportunities with North American electric utility accounts
  • Research target utilities, key stakeholders, reliability initiatives, funding drivers, and operational priorities to support highly relevant outreach
  • Build and execute outbound prospecting campaigns through email, phone, LinkedIn, industry events, referrals, and other channels to create qualified sales conversations
  • Qualify inbound and outbound opportunities by uncovering customer needs, business drivers, decision criteria, timing, budget, and next steps
  • Create and maintain a healthy pipeline of early-stage opportunities that supports quarterly bookings, revenue, and new-logo growth objectives
  • Schedule discovery meetings and coordinate handoffs to senior sales leaders and Technical Sales team members for solution scoping, demonstrations, and deeper customer engagement
  • Partner with Technical Sales, Business Development, Product Management, Engineering, and Advanced Technology teams to position Sentient Energy solutions around customer reliability goals and emerging utility needs
  • Maintain accurate account, contact, activity, and opportunity information in Sentient Energy’s Customer Relationship Management system
  • Provide regular updates on prospecting activity, pipeline development, opportunity status, and customer feedback to sales leadership
  • Bring the “Voice of the Customer” back to Sentient Energy by sharing market insights, objections, competitive intelligence, and emerging customer priorities
  • Continuously test, adopt, and improve prospecting messages, sales motions, and best practices to increase engagement and conversion with target accounts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with direct sales and/or account management
  • Experience with formulating strategic plans for customers/markets and executing
  • Experience hunting and winning new customers
  • Familiarity with electric utility major equipment (transformers, breakers, etc.)
  • Understanding of utility buying drivers (rate cases, O&M reduction, grants)
  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of relevant utility sales experience
  • Experience effectively selling into large organizations
  • Experience driving selling opportunities via a CRM software
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, as health and safety permits
