JOB DESCRIPTION

Sentient Energy is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to lead supply planning, inventory management, and logistics. This is an opportunity to strengthen a growing supply chain organization, improve operational performance, and support innovative technology that is transforming the energy industry.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations, this individual will partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and contract manufacturers to ensure material availability, meet delivery commitments, and manage inventory investment and costs.

This hands-on leadership role will develop the team, establish effective processes, and deliver measurable improvements in efficiency and performance. The ideal candidate combines practical supply chain experience with the initiative and follow-through to build capabilities and take on broader responsibilities as the business grows.

JOB SUMMARY

  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to lead supply planning through the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, aligning material requirements and supply plans with demand and production needs.
  • Develop supply chain capabilities, including hiring and coaching the team and establishing clear responsibilities and performance expectations.
  • Establish and improve documented procedures and controls to increase operational efficiency and support ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Finance, and IT on implementing NetSuite planning and inventory functionality, defining supply chain requirements and supporting user adoption.
  • Manage inventory across company, contract manufacturer, and third-party logistics (3PL) locations, ensuring accurate records, reconciliation, and transfers while reducing excess, obsolescence, and overall inventory investment without compromising supply continuity.
  • Establish regular inventory and supply reviews with senior leadership, reporting on inventory levels and aging, delivery performance, supply risks, and recommended actions.
  • Hold suppliers and contract manufacturers accountable for delivery commitments, resolve escalated supply issues, and support manufacturing transitions and product changes in partnership with Manufacturing and Engineering.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and cost-reduction initiatives focused on material pricing, freight costs, and payment terms.
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, and logistics to ensure accurate, timely fulfillment and efficient material flow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least five years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment, including team leadership, supply and inventory planning, inventory controls, and coordination with contract manufacturers.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop teams, establish accountability, document procedures, and implement improvements that deliver measurable results.
  • Proven negotiation skills and a proactive approach to achieving cost savings.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment. NetSuite or ERP implementation experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, filters, and pivot tables.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate supply chain performance and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Highly organized, with close attention to accuracy and follow-through.
